6 p.m. DISCUSSION FORUM Wednesday 16th November 2016

Back in the 1960s there was a series of fairly well-attended meetings for discussion of recent articles in the Journal, an activity we have been thinking of reviving. Following a successful try-out meeting in June, our next meeting will focus on two interesting areas of writing in our Paranormal Review.

Themes for discussion

(1) the recent series of Presidential Letters on psychical research and philosphers, taking in some aspects of Prof. Jason Jorjani’s article in the latest Journal, and (2) the articles in the latest issue of the Paranormal Review on the researcher/psychic Dr Alex Tanous.  We are pleased to say that the principal authors concerned, Prof.  John Poynton and Callum Cooper, will be present at the meeting to get the discussion going.

Arrangements

Tea, coffee and biscuits will be available from 6 p.m., and discussion will run from 6.40 to 8.20, with further time until 9 p.m. for people attending to talk among themselves over refreshments, including any that they might wish to bring with them.  For those who prefer, dinner is available in the pub over the road, which can be accessed via a pedestrian crossing close by.

Travel directions

The nearest underground station is West Kensington (District Line), which is a five-ten minute walk away. Turn right on leaving the station, cross West Cromwell Road, then follow North End Road until Vernon Street, which is the last turning on the left before Olympia. Vernon Mews is immediately on your left (opposite 23A Vernon St).  Alternative stations are Barons Court and Hammersmith (both stations on Piccadilly and District Lines).

From West Kensington station: Buses 28 and 391 will stop at the top of North End Road.

From High Street Kensington: Buses 9, 10 & 27 stop opposite Olympia in Hammersmith Road (stop is announced as "North End Road"), close to the top of North End Road, while bus 28 continues around into North End Road, stopping opposite the end of Vernon Street (stop is announced as "Olympia").

From Hammersmith: Buses 9, 10 & 27 stop outside Olympia, while the 391 which turns into North End Road and stops opposite the end of Vernon Street.
