Please find herewith the final programme for the Society’s 37^th Annual Conference to be held at Fulton House, Swansea University, Singleton Park, Swansea, SA2 8PP along with travel details.

All delegates must register on arrival at the SPR Conference Office in the Gower Room on the second floor of FULTON HOUSE from 12.30 p.m. on Friday.  Room keys, parking permits and Wi-Fi forms will be available here.  If the key to your room is not available when you arrive, luggage can be left in this office.

Arrivals on Thursday

Please go to Preseli House (open 24 hours).  Ask at the gate for directions.

There will be signage in Fulton House to the SPR Office but the staff at Reception will direct you if necessary.  This office will be open throughout  the conference.

All conference presentations will take place in the Café West on the first floor.  Lunches and dinners will be in the Refectory.

Please note that in no circumstances will the University or the Society accept any responsibility or liability for any loss or damage to property belonging to conference delegates and you are advised to arrange suitable insurance as necessary.

Please contact the SPR office, on the telephone number at the top of this letter, if you have any queries regarding the conference arrangements.  Please bear in mind that the office will be closed on Thursday 5^th, Friday 6^th and Monday 9^th September.

By road

Leave  the  M4  at  Junction  42  (signposted  Swansea  A483)  where  the  slip  road  will bring you onto  Fabian  Way.   

At  the  first  roundabout  (1.1  miles)  take  the  second  exit  continuing  west  (the first exit  is  a  no through  road).   Continue straight across the junction with traffic lights (Visteon Factory on right).   Continue  straight  across  the  next junction  with traffic  lights  (Swansea  Docks  to  the  left  and  Park  and  Ride  car  park  to  the  right  -  3.8  miles).   

Go  straight  across  the  junction  with  traffic  lights  onto  the  bridge  over  the  River Tawe  (A4067) at  the  southern  margin  of  the  city  centre  (4.6  miles).   

RAC Road Signage from this point.   Pass  Sainsbury's  (4.8  miles,  on  the  left)  and Swansea Museum  (5  miles,  again  on  the  left).    Continuing  straight  ahead,  pass the  large  Tesco  store  on  your  right  (5.4  miles),  and  the  City  and  County  of Swansea  offices  on  your  left  (5.5 miles).

Continue  along  the  coast  road  towards  Mumbles,  passing  a  stretch  of  bed  and breakfast hotels  and  the  Bay  View  public  house  on  your  right.   After  the  next  set of  traffic  lights  make sure  you  are  in  the  outside  lane  of  the  dual  carriageway  as you  pass  St  Helen's  Rugby  Ground (6.3  miles). 

Continue through the next junction. The entrance to the University is a right turn at the next set of traffic lights.

By train, bus or coach

Coaches arrive at the Quadrant Bus Station in Swansea.   Bus  numbers  2A  and  3A depart  for  the University  from  Stand  No.2 approximately every 15  minutes. These buses will bring you onto campus.  

A single ticket costs £2.05. Buses return from campus to the Quadrant Bus Station at regular intervals.

A regular and reliable bus service runs from the train station to the Quadrant bus station.

Alternatively, a taxi from the railway station to campus will cost around £8.

The new "bendy-bus" service (Bus number 4) also provides a direct link from the railway station to the campus.

Parking

Delegates who are staying overnight with us may park in any of the parking spaces on campus.  Please tell security at the gate that you will be resident with our conference and they should be able to direct you.

Non-residents may park on campus after 4.30 p.m. on Friday.  The best outside parking to use would be the Pub on the Pond, by Singleton Hospital.  To get to this car park, turn in off the beach road at the turning AFTER the university, coming from the city centre.

There is also a strong local connection between the Swansea / Neath area and the SPR in the form of Winfred Coombe-Tennant (Mrs Willets) who lived at Cadoxton Lodge in the Vale of Neath just a few miles from Swansea. The house is now in private ownership but the local church at Cadoxton does have some family plaques.
