Spiritual/Psychic occurrences have been interpreted anecdotally, echoing the anthropological timidity that characterises the contemporary culture. While the sciences search for patterns that allow us to predict the behaviour of natural phenomena, an anthropological approach to spiritual, religious or psychic phenomena can limit the narratives to the realm of culture (symbolism, interpretation, metaphors...). A scientific approach to world religions and spirituality would involve a naturalistic look for discernible patterns across cultures. Fortunately, the phenomena insist - against our cultural prejudices - in presenting themselves with remarkable cross-cultural consistency.
