7 p.m. Gwen Tate Memorial Lecture - Dr David Saunders - The Carington Case: The Dreams of Eileen J. Garrett

His contributions marked him as a most celebrated scholar in the field during the first half of the 20^th century. In 1960, thirteen years after his death, the famous medium Eileen J. Garrett presented a series of systematically documented experiences of dreamed communications with Carington, claimed to provide compelling veridical information which could not have been known by Garrett at the time of their recording. A mostly unknown case, this lecture will provide a detailed account of the circumstances around the events and consider the strength of the evidence as support for the notion of the survival of human personality beyond bodily death. Finally, contemporary inconsistencies in the retelling of the account will be explored.
